I have a theory that just like how every famous person is only 7 steps away from Kevin Bacon, Eno is the center of the music universe, and any musician is only at most 7 people away from having a connection to Brian Eno, through collaborations and other links. Post a musician and I'll try and connect them to Eno in the fewest moves possible. Other anons can join in and help as well if they want.

a musician isn't someone who plays an instrument, singers are musicians and they don't play instruments.
that said, goreshit plays the computer/DAW

No I'm asking what instrument he plays, not what type of recording method he uses.

I've seen a few mentions of Trent Reznor ITT and for some reason I didn't think of Bowie right away...

Merriam-Webster defines "instrument" as
"a device used to produce music; also : a singing voice"
okay so a computer is clearly an instrument because it can be used to create music.
now that we have that out of the way, what's the connection to Eno? thanks

>>74883824

How so?

I can do it in 8 steps, though I'm sure there's probably a way to cut one out through a different route from Kayo Dot

>" like how every famous person is only 7 steps away from Kevin Bacon"
The theory of 7 degrees of separation states that any living person is a maximum of 7 steps away from literally any other living person. According to this theory, I know someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows someone who knows you. So if the theory is correct, then yes every musician is at most 7 people away from Brian Eno, as is any other person who exists. In the music world, it's probably even less than that. It's probably more like 5 degrees of separation between any two musicians because musicians (or people in the music business in general) are so connected.

I don't know him exactly, but he's a lecturer at the physics department I study at, and I talked to him face to face once. It's a pretty lose connection so I don't know if you'd consider it valid but eh.

There's a website for this.
http://www.whosampled.com/six-degrees/

Although it counts covers and samples since it's hosted by whosampled. Maybe if there was a version that used data from discogs or something it would be a better representation of who knows who. Also are there any databases that catalog tours and shit? Like what shows musicians played and who opened for who? Cause if so I think someone could probably code something that can use those two databases to do a more accurate six degrees thing
