>>74883078
And I've finally gotten into them because of noisia and their radio. The darkness gives it good atmosphere, and with guys like tsuruda and ivy lab, they can make good beats for chilling. 333 and planebeats have been so addicting yet end so quickly. But I worry it'll end up getting saturated. Some guys like 1991 and dimension have tried and gotten it going with their attempts, but it isn't going to blow up like that camo and krooked minimal style.
>>74883031
you have no idea how bummed I was when Kursa couldn't come stateside, it was gonna be his first US performance and now I have to wait till who knows how long to scratch him off the list.

>>74883202
Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy the more broish side of dubstep but I'm extremely picky. If the producer in question doesn't make their own sounds I'm basically not gonna listen to it. The same soundpacks just makes most of brostep monotonous to listen to, and that goes for a lot of the "riddim" getting thrown around now too.
I fux with the Subcarbon label, shit like GWN, Boogie T and Dirt Monkey. Its fun stuff, Dirt Monkey's new album was goony cheesy fun. I also enjoy me some Prime Audio.

I mean its literally only good for the going hard at a show aspect and not a whole lot else. I raged my face off at this Bommer into Shiverz b2b Obey a few months back but its still riddim lol. You heard one mix you heard pretty much all of them, which is a shame since a lot of old dubstep from like a decade ago, Caspa and Rusko type shit, was riddim-ish without being shit.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U6bqBTT_kRM
deep
>>74883800
And that's the problem: so many wish to be like 12th planet or bommer just because they perfected it. The only ones who nailed riddim are dubloadz, gentlemans club, megalodon****, and space laces. Everyone else just makes it sound horrid or uninspired. People lost their shit when virtual riot made dragons, but it was a very bland tune just made to be rinsed at festivals. At least jump up can be played over and over again and vary in their styles
can anyone help a pleb out?
Mr.Oizo-Monday Massacre https://youtu.be/jX4r-HJoksg
what style or genre is this? thanks guys
>>74883990
100% agreed.
And you know, the faster an underground genre goes mainstream and blows up with band wagoners and over saturation, the faster it dies. The small, sound-over-hype events that introduced me to modern riddim like 3 years ago now barely book any because nobody who goes cares anymore lol.
also fuck yeah Gents Club is sick shit, Bokeh Creeper VIP is still an all time fav of mine. I went to this show where they opened for Eptic and Must Die and it was probably the first time I ever went to a show strictly for the opener and nothing else.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y2UcQmVsmDo
>>74880852
I'm late to it but you probably aren't very invested in philosophy if you write everything Nick has to say off as 'a joke'
>>74884070
I mean, look at dubstep in general. When skrillex made SMNS, it just took off and everyone went to copy him. The same happened with netsky and liquid, or pendulum if you want the accuracy. People fucking bandwagoned the shit out of both and now both are either on life support or still going strong, but with uncertainty. Gclub does have so much good with them, and u don't know is the track of the year in 2016 that wasn't a remix. That goes to that incredible ganja white night remix of Ü
>>74884156
Which is why it all ultimately comes back to something Mala said a couple years back at some fest I was at. He was asked about modern dubstep and he said he liked it even though it was different, and that he didn't mind its popularity because "even as the dubstep tree continues to grow the roots will always remain underground." When the hype dies and people jump to the next bandwagon the substance that made the genre blow up in the first place will still be there for those who actually care.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MY94XmNOko0
>>74884327
Which is fine. Look at NSD now. It's a husk of itself that needs samplepack abusers to live. Their best asset now is krimer, and he's been one of the best Brostep producers I've heard. Same goes for murda and phiso. Too bad they don't want to get signed and just label hop all the time

It's not even for that, it's too much, you know?
Like, you know how hard something like this kicks on a system?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fq3lzJjBk4E
You don't need any more than that.
Sure, you can dial up the speed a little more, put on a little more, but what's the point? It just takes away all the magic dubstep has in the first place, it completely crushes this "fast but slow" illusion.
>>74884327
>He was asked about modern dubstep and he said he liked it even though it was different
ofc he rates it to some extent, man thinks highly of Coki
i know /bleep/ generally dislikes psy but fuck you
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YtTf7jVT418
>>74884664
umm how is this psy?
I mean, it's complete shit, but not the brand of shit psytrance is.
>>74884653
I can find the magic in that as well as modern riddim to an extent, at this point its just subjective taste.
Like, the faster bouncier tempo that riddim adds to the crowd is not nothing, its different from the low creeping feeling of slower deeper stuff, but it isn't trying to be that either.
I definitely tire of riddim faster than deeper classics but I'll chock that up to over saturation once again. Its not a worthless subgenre its just way overblown.

ahh but what do I know
>>74885014
you know what your opinion is about music because you've thought about it, which is more than a lot of people can say.
I still disagree. I think that in the same way you said old dubstep was slow but fast, this track is fast but slow. Its so dubby that it has no edge, it just wouldn't get the crowd moving in the same way a riddim tempo does. It's this bouncy angry vibe, like a brostep vibe without any moshing. It can be a lot of fun and its unique to riddim shows.
>>74885014
>>74885169
like this right here is exactly what i mean
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RFazEyg9hkc
Anyone remember when sub focus and chase and status were huge?
>>74885169
yes, it sounds dubby, because that's what it is, it's dub. It's a different thing, for different people.
You see it doesn't have this disjointed movement, this inherent demanding presence of the drop, this characteristic that makes popular dance music unbearable. You can actually dance to it instead of going "JUMP JUMP JUMP", you can actually mix it in a meaningful and interesting way, instead of cutting in on the drop and shouting "WHOA BOY" or something into the microphone.
It's a very different and in my opinion inferior. But ultimately it's not up to me, people will play whatever works.
>>74885211
This just sounds like a bad coki tune, to be completely honest with you.
It's like someone tried rebuilding spongebob and then someone heard that and thought if it would be a cool idea if they made a tune like it. repeat that about 30 times and you get what you hear there, except that didn't even bother finishing it.
Sadly enough that probably is the actual origin story of that tune.

A year ago I would've said exactly this. Then I heard those 808 State remixes they did and was like ok maybe these boys ain't complete shite. Forgot about them til today when I was round my mate's place and he had the album on. You can't say there aren't some serious fucking tunes on there
>>74894071
If I was saying it in person I would just say "twelve" instead of "twelve inch"
>>74893945
>honestly I'm new to listening to EPs/singles
I feel sorry for you. Imagine taking /mu/ pards so seriously that you think anything other than albums are acceptable LLS
>>74893269
>>74893446
>>74894096
I thought the album was really lackluster. They have made some bangers though, I love Icebowl, Poly Pineapple, their remix of Tears I can Afford and Rays

it's not about that, I've just listened mostly to albums when it comes to non-techno/house music and bought songs one by one when it comes to that kind of stuff
I haven't been hanging out here for more than a month
>>74893945
Yeah this is pretty embarrassing desu

>>74894178
Oh pipe down ya nob, sure they're a favourite for a lot of "noobs" but they definitely have some chunes
>>74894291
yeah dude if you like it then great. I just felt some sharpness missing to their melodies that I felt used to be there just a year ago, but I'm sure they'll get it back
Ah yes, IDM infused Techno...

>>74894570
Yeah but what are you on about anyway, people say "twelve" all the time
>>74894579
if theyre answering "how many eggs are in a dozen?" then yeah they would probably say twelve without the word inch
>>74894595
I guess it might just be a thing in the north or something then idk
