i like your sound! i think a mix will help this song a lot. the different song sections kind of meld into one another -- more dynamics or instrumentation changes would help them stand a part a little more probably. i'm checking your ep now -- sounds good!

I actually used to have a straight sample of a numbers station recording on one song but I took it off in the end because I didn't want it to sound too Porcupine Treeish haha. and thanks for the feedback.
I'm listening to your EP, really like it so far. Wasn't quite expecting the opening line, the guitar playing and drums are very tight, and the vocals are really nice. I want to say there's a sort of Sonic Youth quality about the music (esp. Faded Love), though idk if that's just because of the vocals and maybe it doesn't truly apply, but I really like it regardless!
>>74866497
Thanks too! Everything about this sounds so intricate and melds fantastically. Your delivery works really with the music; I've listened to a few of your songs on your page and they all have this very introspective, melancholic vibe that I find really engaging, and the deep lyrics definitely help for that. I really like this, man, keep it up and I'm definitely gonna listen to the rest of your stuff

That's really cool! I find they make excellent samples. The opening line was actually originally a sample that we removed due to clearing worries. The whole song is kind of a tribute to S3E1 of Black Mirror, with the quote being from 47-48ish minutes in.
Our Alesis SR-16 is a very reliable drummer, haha, and I'm glad you like the vocals. And we appreciate the comparison. We take a lot of influences from early 90's noise rock and Shellac / The Rentals, so that means a lot. Thank you for the feedback.

Ty
I use Reason and I tend to contruct synths individually for each track. Usually an instrument is a bunch of synths plugged together in a combinator. The bass does come out a lot better in a good system but I've always fought with trying to achieve a punchy sound that Reason really doesnt want to give me. They are all 99% done in reason; I'm not skilled with any real world instruments but I've been experimenting with samples a bit.

I liked it, about 2 mins in I said to myself I'd have a synth there instead of a piano, but the piano is good, it's just a bit jarring going from the electronic robot voice to the piano so maybe some transition in there could help.
The silence in the middle, I expect thats going to have some vocals in there because it needs something.

This is really good. I really like IDM that sounds like it could be in an older game, but man I love those unsettling synths. Sounds kinda evil but really good.
Anyways, what you're gonna want to utilize is a compressor. I'm not sure how you have everything tracked and recorded so you're gonna have to figure out where it goes and how high you set it etc.
https://clyp.it/rbaturz2
Just added another part to this track, kicks in around 1:10 mark. Let me know how the mix is, I think I got to much snare in the right channel.
>>74875408
Some general mixing advice: I'd turn the keys up a little bit, they're pretty quiet. I'd also look into how to master your tracks. Donno what DAW you use, but there'll be youtube tutorials for it. Drums on this track are cool, I fuck with those.
>>74875786
This is cool. I'd turn the drums up a bit in the mix. Think it's in need of some mastering though. The compressor advice is good. I like to use a multipressor and then a limiter on top of that.
>>74876024
There's a really quiet high pitched buzz over either the bass on this track, or just the track itself. I'd put a low-pass filter on both of em if you haven't already. I agree you should even out the snare volume across both channels
