I really don't get why people hate this band but I don't know if there's anything to "get" other than metal fans hating anything that could possibly be construed as different

It's hated because it got popular because of the album cover and not because of the music
There were hundreds of good blackgaze records before sunbather, but (stupid) people hailed it as "revolutionary"
Plus both the audience and the musicians hate actual black metal
