I have literally never met anyone in my life who has ever heard of Autechre.

For some reason my cousin who listens to hip hop and reggaeton knows them.

I mean that's pretty normal, if you asked 1000 random people on a college campus if they've heard of autechre maybe a few of them would say yes

Autechre is great
Oversteps blew my mind when it came out. their old stuff is less massive and lush and ambitious, but it's still really fun and mysterious. reminds me of Donkey Kong Country 2. really enjoy exploring their discography for gems
the only comparable electronic act is Arca, and he's massively influenced by them
some of Oval's stuff gives a similar feel, but I haven't felt compelled to dig deeply. might be listening to the wrong things.

Ovalcommers and Ovalprocess are two wildly underrated Oval albums and also a successful reinvention of what Oval was, the Oh EP is a second successful reinvention, this dude did it twice and he's still relevant after 25 years. His latest stuff is glitchpop and it's pretty good, you wonder why he never did it before
