The argument kind of works with MEM and Ys. If you are into weird folk that is rough around the edges and grating, but interesting at times, you will have a hard time with the pristine production and clean vocals of HOoM and Divers. Not sure how the latter is supposed to be less raw than the former though. I guess the lenght makes it more appealing to casual listeners, but then again, you always have the option to listen to only a few songs on HOoM if you do not want to sit through over 2 hours. Most tracks work perfectly well on their own, especially on the first disc.

Honestly, I wish that I hadn't discovered what I did. I imagine what I feel is a bit like what the astronomers of the 16th and 17th century felt when they realized that the reason why the Ptolemaic model of the solar system struggled so much to explain the observed movement of the heavens was not because they needed to further tweak it, but because it was fundamentally wrong and the data fit a hypothesis that would literally shatter their entire scientific and theological worldview.

One of my favorite albums is Tomorrow, in A Year, by The Knife, as I think it does a fantastic job of capturing that sense of horrific dread that must have come with the realization of what his observations on the origin of species would mean in terms of the origin and nature of the world itself.

The political awakening that many milennials are undergoing right now is similar, and it's honestly pretty terrifying to see that the worldviews we're taught to believe do fuck all to explain how/why there is so much suffering and inequality in the world, while all the racist hitler shit fits the dataset perfectly.

A lot of data suggesting the opposite is actively suppressed, and even more of it remains scattered in bits and pieces throughout the life sciences and academic psychology, known and understood as bits and pieces by scientists and clinicians who are expected to acknowledge the particular difference in physiology, metabolism, cognition, or whatever that is relevant to their specific field, without ever taking a step back, looking at all these collective little differences, and piecing together what they collectively mean.

Truly multicultural environments do awful things for social trust and people's sense of place in a society. A multicultural society will by definition be an economically unequal one, as different cultural priorities will inevitably be differentially rewarded by the market. When one attributes those inequalities to racism or prejudice, rather the more benign impartiality of free market economics, it will seed only anger and resentment among people who will incorrectly feel that they are being singled out on the basis of their race.

IQ has been proven repeatedly to have a causitive effect on socioeconomic outcomes at both the individual and at the societal levels.

There are still millions of blacks and hispanics who are objectively more intelligent than the vast majority of whites, and to punish them on the basis of their race alone would be horrifically unjust. No, we just have no real consensus. Everyone agrees that everything in here sucks except 1-2 albums, but no one on /mu/ can agree on which albums those two are yet because it's too soon to call. Obviously the 2010s haven't been a godsend for indie rock (/mu/'s genre of choice 9/10 times) like the 90's and 00s were but even the 80's had some truly 10/10 albums being released. We just need some more time for a better consensus to settle.
