Is this Godspeed's best release, or just their easiest to digest one?

i liek when he opens up his wallet, and it's full of blood.

it's their best
someone tell me how gybe is hard to listen at all other than length of songs. it's perfect music for going on a walk or even just laying down.
Honestly, F A ∞, Slow Riot, and Skinny Fists are all close enough in quality that my favorite from those mostly just depends on my mood.

>other than length of songs
That's why
Also a lot of the "down time" of GY!BE can get pretty boring. Take SFTB in comparison, it's never boring no matter how quiet it gets. I suppose that's just part of GY!BE's aesthetic, but it doesn't necessarily work for some people.

muh crescendo
post-rock is so predictable and boring
>>74773903
mogwai's pretty unpredictable, though
sigur ros too lately, have you heard their most recent album? it's fucking terrifying
>>74773730
nigga just sit down how fucking long are people's attention spans? you can sit down for an hour and watch the same superhero movie a million times but when it comes to a 20 minute song with drones and interludes that last no more than 6 minutes until a sick riff dude™ comes in and rewards you for taking in the atmosphere?

>and rewards you for taking in the atmosphere
This is why it's boring. A riff shouldn't have to "reward" the listener for it to be good.
Ambience is fine, obviously, I like ambient albums, and they're basically all quiet. But good ambient albums keep it interesting, even if it's ignorable. GY!BE in their ambience can tone it down a little too much for a little too long.
I also find the offshoot bands like Silver Mt. Zion boring for the same reason, so that might just be me. Don't get me wrong, I do think they're a good, artful band, just…kinda boring to listen to at a lot of times.

i was jokin
They're only memorable song is the one with the homeless guy rambling over the beginning. Horribly overrated band. A Silver Mt. Zion is a lot better (though they're nothing great either).
