Is there a term for awkward production in 80's Hip Hop?

What do you mean awkward? I wouldn't say Paid in Full has awkward production by any means.
"Kschht".
The 80s snare sound.

It's still a good album.
But some songs don't know how to end itself. So the beat weirdly keeps going on with nothing happening.
I hope somebody smarter than my can explain this better.
Still not as bad as 80s reverbed drums in every pop or pop rock song. Now that was unbearable.

Its not weird to just let a beat ride out, but if it doesn't sound or feel natural I understamd what you mean.

>AINT. NO. HALF. STEPPIN.
I hate that sample. Ruins a good song/beat
How did they produce this in 87? Was it all shit like the SP12 turbo, cutting tape, and turntablism or did they have access to some super expensive sampler?

What the fuck does half stepping even mean?
It's fucking everywhere in 90's hip-hop

He means you either need to give it your all to "come at him," or you might as well not even try it. Don't half-ass "steeping" towards Big Daddy Kane.
Albums that aged better than Paid in Full: their other album, Criminally Minded, Long Live the Kane, Raisin Hell, Licensed to Ill, Mc Shan, literal milk

Criminally minded aged wayyy worse. That album is unlistenable.
