Slowdive's new album was like a slap in the face.

How so?

like this?

It sounds like if you explained to someone what shoegaze is and told them to record a shoegaze album without having ever listened to a shoegaze song

like this right

Yes, unpleasant for the anime girl being spanked.
Oppressive.
first album that comes to mind but i don't know if any follow up to loveless wouldn't have been a disappointment

wait i think we're coming to different conclusions here
>>74757066
I think we both know the new Slowdive album was bad and there's no amount of careful deflection and anime gifs that will change that.

No one coming with the new At the Drive in? I thought it was a very "meh" album. Maybe I've just aged out of the style though

Slomo, Don't Know Why, and Everyone Knows are great songs though, better than at least 30% of Souvlaki. They have their own atmospheric magic to them, it's just brighter than their older style. The rest of the album ranges from eh to acceptable.
It's the worst of the four, I'll give you that much.

Gonna have to disagree with this one too. I didn't expect it to be anywhere close to Loveless so I came out of it pleasantly surprised. It has its own laidback flair to the songwriting which shines on the first half of the album and the bonkers psychedelic mess of Wonder 2 is pretty awesome.
>>74757086
come on now, it wasn't that bad
>>74757086
Has two of their best songs on (White is Red and Right On, Frankenstein)
but they did make it very clear that they were only making the album because everybody kept asking for it, they didn't really want to. So it's no surprise that basically every other track is boring filler
>>74757086
Nah, it had some classic dfa groove with songs like "cheap talk" and "crystal ball" as well as their classic vigor with "right on, Frankenstein" and "government trash". Though I do think Trainwreck was a pretty weak track, The physical world was a hell of a closer

yo i like the new slowdive but
>better than at least 30% of Souvlaki
I get that you wanna sound all smart n shit cause you don't have much going for you, but how do you even pull percentages like that?
Actual sped

I heard them mention in a recent interview (I forget which one) that what they said was sort of misinterpreted. They wanted to keep touring but they felt that, without any new material, it'd be kinda redundant. They just wanted to update their setlist a bit
This album makes me happy Cornell killed himself.
