I'm looking forward to it, but I'm not sure how I felt about the released singles.
Don't Say I know was top fucking notch though.
HOLY FUCK DYER LN IS A BANGER
im enjoying it but /mu/ no longer cares about things like John Maus or Tera Melos
this isnt 2011 anymore, sadly. nowadays /mu/ (and the "indie" market as a whole) mostly cares about top 40 pop stars and hip hop only
Listening to it right now. I like it a lot so far, I'll post my opinion once I'm done.

Finished. It's definitely jazzier and more prog than their other records. I don't know where I'd rank it among their other stuff since it's fairly different. I won't know until I listen to it 4 or 5 more times.
My favorites right now are Dyer Ln, Men's Shirt, A Universal Gonk, and the singles. I think the only song I'm not really digging is Gr30a11. Overall pleased and I'm glad they aren't just staying the same.
I could see folks who prefer their early stuff not liking it at all.

What if I liked Patagonian Rats/ Before the end of tonight best? I felt that was the perfect blend of their new style and their extended math rock style from before. X'ed out had to many slow trying to be emotional songs, which isn't really their forte. They should stick to absurdity imo.

Patagonian Rats is my favorite album by them so I'd say give it a shot, listen to it and see what you think. I liked X'ed Out though, so it could go either way for you.
This new album does still have those slow songs peppered around the record so I don't think you'll like that at least.
Should i wait till my copy arrives or just listen on bandcamp?

I was gonna check it out anyway. Even though I didn't like X'ed Out overall, there were definitely some top notch tracks on it, so I'm sure i'll find something I like.
is this a former scene kid going through his pretentious math phase thread?
I love 2008 too

What? Former scene kids are into vaporwave and mac demarco, not math.
