They've always been pretentious garbage for superficial hipsters that like style over substance, it's just now they've fallen out of favour with music trends and their music has become so self fellating that no one can really ignore it anymore. It's garbage and always has been, fuck arcade fire

they were indie darlings from birth, they never had anyone sit them down and tell them "no, this is shit. this is not okay."

pitchfork and similar sites told a generation pseudo-intellectual hipsters that this band was infallible and perfect and they ate it up. the band quickly noticed and let it go to their head, as is made obvious by the embarrassing, pretentious marketing campaign that is the most basic and bland criticism of consumerism ever.
