To be fair, Out of the Woods was pretty weird to listen to the first time and pretty repetitive too, but it grew on me. I don't hate this yet either.

Regarding the "she's dead" part:

She is ALMOST confirmed as a channer, and it swirls around all the time. It could be a calculated dogwhistle of "yes, I know the meme" to people who were snooping into the "Miley Cyrus was murdered and replaced by a degenerate body double" conspiracy on the chans. The song itself isn't degenerate, as far as I can tell. I'm holding out hope the album itself is unironically great like 1989 was. This song itself is okay. Like most modern pop singles, I think I'll like it after several listens.

I gave it a chance and I feel like it had the potential to be good, but something about it just feels so soulless, and I'm not entirely sure why.
