Why do you think RapGenius did so well?

this. rapgenius changed my life
Its not about the color of your skin, it's how relatable the experiences are. I love hip-hop because of this reason, if the artist speaks about something that you can relate to, you can actually FEEL what he's saying. Something every other genre lacks in my opinion. It's something about the way rappers deliver their lyrics on a beat that no artist from another genre can do.

I'm white, and love some hip hop/rap.
This song is one of my favorites, because it's eloquent and tells a great story. Plus, the music is great:

You have infinitely more in common with your average emo singer than with your average rapper, guaranteed.

yeah, if you are white and privileged

Emo music, to me, is like the beta male of music.
It's got feels, but it's just sad to watch, and makes you wish the guy would catch a surprise body slam, just to get a modicum of entertainment out of it.
