ITT: albums that you didn't get on the first listen but now love
Had to listen to it a couple of times the first time to get into it.
Now it's always so good to listen
Kid A lulled me to sleep on first listen but I never hated it and full on loved it by the third. Amnesiac, though. That's the one Radiohead album that took some doing for me. If it weren't for Knives Out I probably would've given up on it wholesale at the time.
pretty much all albums i love were growers desu senpai

Where do they find music critics? Certainly not where normal people hang out.
I can't believe that I let the words of some stranger talk me into spending actual money on this droning, hideous noise. I think a good rule of thumb is that if a CD gets a good review in the rock press then STAY AWAY!
I'm not sure there is a category that fits Amnesiac. Maybe somber electronica? It's really hard to identify a true musical structure in some of the songs. Those who praise this album probably think of this as being groundbreaking, but to me it just seems contrived and talentless. I am reminded of the story of the Emperor''s New Clothes because I can't imagine that the folks who champion this CD really can stand to listen to it. I think they must feel that liking Radiohead makes you cool somehow.
Keep in mind, gentle reader, that I'm not somebodys grandpa writing a review trashing "that newfangled music". I was REM's biggest fan for years (Green and earlier) and I love John Hiatt and Sister Hazel as well, so my musical tastes are pretty broad. I just didn't hear much music on this CD.
Dull, boring, plodding. pretentious...how else can I say it? I've been buying music since 1977 and I honestly can't remember buying a worse record. Thank goodness for Amazon auctions so at least I can find somebody to take this stinker off my hands.
Post-rock is such a fucking stupid label and imo doesn't even make sense when applying it to crescendo-core bands. I came in expecting the melodrama and big sweeping emotional passages, I got a hot sweaty paranoid clusterfuck that I can't get enough of. An actually awe inspiring album
It clicked after I paid more attention to Jaki's god-tier drumming. Now, I can't get enough it

this album clicked and then unclicked for me in like a week
