Been re listening to vulnicura. it's so emotional and melodic whilst still containing some fairly avant garde elements. ive never listened to an album that encapsulates not only the pain but the confusing liberation and regret of a relationship breaking down and ending. absolutely wonderful work of art the fully expresses the psychological aspects of a break up via not only the intimate lyrics but the stunning and often intimidating and slightly haunting melodies, only enhanced by the strings as well as the contrast between them and the technological parts of the songs.

this album i think goes hand in hand with vespertine. i don't think it's a coincidence that she used reasonably similar names for them, despite obvious differences such as vespertine sounding very welcoming and comfortable, where as vulnicura is more harsh and aggressive whilst also being kind of warm. both incredible albums, one chronicling the beginning of a relationship including the intimacy, beauty and even the pain and confusion of falling in love, whereas the other being almost the opposite, showing the pain and confusion of the end of a relationship. bjork's personal life aside (although it is an obvious influence on both of these albums), i consider these albums to be related narratively.

Yes. To me her music honestly just sounds like she's just making melodies up without a clear rhythm as she reads lyrics off and then it gets added to a bad music track that doesn't even match up. I really like It's Oh So Quiet but outside of that song I really can't listen to more than 30 seconds of her music without being bored to my core and a little bit annoyed. I've tried to like her music but every song I play it's the same thing.

I had ti admit that when imwas younger I couldn't get into her music until I sat one day and listem to homogenic start to finished. I don't think Björk it's an adquired taste, but she is difficult to get into for some people, similar to Kid A for example.

I didn't really sit through much of it, I just opened whatever songs YouTube would recommend me and tried to listen to it. Army of Me, All is Full of Love, Human Behavior, Venus as a Boy, Big Time Sensuality, Oceania, etc. are some of the ones I listened to and frankly I found them all boring. The thing that confuses me the most is how everybody praises the variety in her music but I've yet to find a song (other than it's oh so quiet) that sounds any different than the rest. Sure, the background music (because that's what it sounds like to me, just a generic background to what sounds like Bjork reading out the psalm in church without practicing out a melody beforehand) sounds kinda different for each song but in the end of things all I can hear is Bjork's voice and if you put a gun to my head and told me to tell the songs apart without listening to the instrumental, I really couldn't. Not only does it sound devoid of any rhythm and melody to me, it sounds completely alien to the music it's playing on. I can't help but feeling the actual music is an afterthought in making her music and they just focus on the lyrics, which I can't even understand because somehow the background music distracts me from them and vice-versa, plus she stretches every syllable so much that I can't even follow whatever she's saying. It's so jarring it kinda makes my head hurt.

I know I just ranted a lot and sounds like I'm talking shit about her but that's just honestly how I feel when I listen to her songs. Mostly confusion and a bit of a headache.
