It's very different. Much more raw and messy. Amon Duul II was made because the best musicians of the Amon Duul group actually wanted to make something decent and more refined. That just leaves a bunch of musicians who don't really know how to play in ADI. Only Paradieswärts Düül sounds anything like more conventional refined psych rock of II, and even then it's a more generic take on the stuff.
