I just listened to all 22 minutes of Steroids again and it's still magical. How did Death Grips do it? How do they still sound so fresh and so fun every year?
Is this a real album or what?

it's an EP

Music isn't real. We just make album covers all day and pretend the music exists.

Please stop. Steroids is an embarrassment.

Why, anon?
I'm starting to like it. I'm listening to it not forgetting it says 'Gabber' in it's title.

There is quite literally nothing in Steroids to be embarrassed about, it's DG operating at their highest technical level. Their sound has never been this evolved. All they would need to outdo NotM at this point is another similarly strong theme, but they seem to have deliberately taken a break from that to focus on "very shallow listening" records that develop their style. For some people this is enough to make BP and Steroids their favourite work by the band, however I think a lot of fans are still looking for that something deeper.
I think when DG next decides to put out a serious album that lets us back into the emotional and existential core we saw on ExM through TPTB, it will wipe the floor with their whole discog. I'm not counting on this year's album to be it, though, if indeed it ever happens.
