It's been 3 years, has anyone topped this release? I remeber everyone creaming themselves over this one. I haven't really lurked /mu/ since then. I need more Hard as fuck music.

For the uninitiated

>>
Fucking great album. Honestly for straight up jungle nothing has. Closest has been synthwave shit like Perturbator that inspire a lot of the same rush but not close to the same rhythm
>>
it's basically just a mid-to-late 90s compilation album.
>>
>>74695537
That's disappointing to read. I'm listening to the Dred comp release for 2017 but Machine Girl is strangely absent. These other guys on it alright tho

Nothing has topped it because jungle/hardcore revivalism isn't on anyone's radar yet. With the recent exposure the album got thanks to youtube recommendations maybe he'll do a sequel or inspire some other producers.

In the meantime just check RYM/discogs lists on jungle/darkcore whatever. There is a lot of hard as fuck original shit out there. Also where were u' in 92 is a tamer version of the same concept.

Because he posted the worst track on the album. Overall the album is much more breakbeat/hardcore than dnb but has a bunch of classic jungle breaks on the entire album.

any recs for someone who didn't care for bleeps for most of his life?
>>
>>74697130

I heard metalfags like synthwave like Perturbator. It's basically metal but with synths. I don't like it personally, why too cheesy.

Just start where everyone starts. Daft Punk, Justice, Yeezus. If you like more drums in your electronic music check out jungle and hardcore. There's definitely something out there for you.
>>
>>74697164
pertubator's cool, super cheesy as you said but so is most metal so idc
I really don't like Daft Punk, Justice and Yeezus, sounds way too top 40. Now I realise I sound like people who want into metal but refuse to start with black sabbath, oops
any jungle/hardcore recs?

You're right jungle is hot shit right now. Forget about trap, edm or deep house, it's all about those crunchy breaks. People go absolutely wild at parties when you play jungle, you're right. It's not at all niche right now. Sorry for not knowing my shit.

Wait, so /breaks/ a thing now?

Is it all the hardcore continuum or just 90s and 90s throwbacks?

I'd be up for it, /bleep/ is shit and so is most of what they post desu
>>
>>74697906

Increasing the BPM and cranking up the distortion doesn't make it harder for me. I prefer jungle.
>>
Dunno why all these people are saying /bleep/ is shit, if you guys posted more jungle/hardcore, people like me would post more and it wouldn't just be about s/t and techno. Hell, I think I'm the only one who posts footwork regularly

>>
>>74698590
he said he liked machinegirl and got recommended daft punk and justice (as if he hasnt fucking heard of them)
>>
>>74698590

Why do people always recommend Justice and Daft Punk?

There are so many better house releases out there. Hell, Bangalter has loads of better releases than he did with Daft Punk.

I just don't get it, Cross is fucking crap as well

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtDivTitT5E

ah man it's trash but I've got so many happy memories associated with this
>>
>>74698875

Both Discovery and Cross are classics of their respective genres. Hating on well respected, critically acclaimed entry-level albums doesn't make you cool anon.

>There are so many better house releases out there.

No shit, but we're talking about albums. People who come from a rock background are more accustomed to albums.
>>
>>74698949
Neither of which are breaks genres
>>
>>74698981
the equivalent would be Pendulum
>>
>>74698949

I don't hate Discovery, it's a great album. I just think Cross is shit. You raised an interesting point about albums.

1. There are loads of better house albums than Cross.
2. Why do we NEED to recommend people albums? If you want to get into dance music you're going to have to listen to singles/mixes at some point. Is it really that difficult?
3. Why are you talking about house in this thread? Why do people on /mu/ act like electronic music is one thing and not a group of genres?

Recommending Daft Punk, Justice, Jamie XX, etc. every time is not going to give a good idea of what dance music is about.
>>
>>74699015
Most of /mu/ are 16yo Americans from Nowhere, USA and think music is rock, rap, pop, country and then that electronic stuff.
>>
hey dude you like machinegirl? ive got some more recs of edm for you bruh: try this crazy little 2-piece band called daft punk cuz (they have an album called homework), and when u see how great they are theres a little secret that us 'heads' in the know like to call 'Justice'
>>
I bought Dred Collective's discography on bandcamp a while ago, it's the label she released that under. It's got some pretty good albums.
>>
Americans on /mu/ today remind me of high school in the 90s in the UK
