Compared to the past five decades is it safe to say that the 2010s were devoid of any music scene that had a major cultural impact?
Vapourware is the only thing I'll look back on from this decade

Trap
Vaporwave is really great. Do you have other similar music genres of the 2010s to share ?
EDM unfortunately.
This is the timeline i have create in my autistc spare time.
2000- 2009: nu metal, pop punk, emo, garage rock reival, really bad unhip stuff like nickleback, god smack, drowning pool, incubus, linken park, maroon5, coldplay, hoobastank. some British stuff like arctic monkeys, libertines, klaxons, franz fernaznind, the vines, gorrilaz, the killers, the strokes, the white stripes, jimmy eat world, my chemical romance, green day, sum 41, foo fighters, weezer, panic at the disco, fall out boy, slipkot, korn, deftones, rap: crunk, ringtone rap, (i dont really listen to rap)
2010-2012: indie hipster shit, lcd soundsytem, death cab for cutie, animal collective, vampire weekend, grizzily bear, mgmt things were very "quirky", posthardcore? metalcore?, djent? remember all those awful movies with michael cera?,really bad white girl electro pop, perry, swift, kesha, lady gaga
2012-201?: meme rap, EDM, trap if there is rock its on the margins, things like car seat headrest, tame impla, Alabama shakes, metal doesnt care about being mainstream, blackgaze, post metal, hipster metal faggotry, really bad white girl electro pop, perry, swift, kesha, lady gaga, imagine dragons, mumford and sons, hipster r&b like the weekend, mac demarco, deathcore?
Vaporwave is terrible and is just literally slowed down Dianna Ross songs. You should consider suicide tbqh

Clueless, ignorant dumbass frogposters
it doesn't work the same way anymore
now there's a million subcultures and you can find things specifically that you like without being a poser for something that everyone else likes, that was happening from 1960 to 2005 or so
there's more room for innovation and experimentation but also way more small niche audiences, nothing can have a "major cultural impact" anymore that isn't just pure normie stuff - pop, EDM, even hip hop is mainstream now

forgot to add
2012-201?: vaporwave becomes the most famous micro genre although there are others like chill wave, witchhouse, ocean grunge. also wubstep and trpical house were famous in the mainstream or some shit

hip hop has been mainstream since mc hammer was too legit to quit you 12 year old plen

pretty much this
the internet kinda destroyed the idea of major music scenes
Vaporwave, the Mac Demarco style shit, trap, meme rap, those shitty indie pop buzz bands of the early 2010s. That's what I'll think of.
