ya.....its gr8
>>74659530
pretty shitty album to dedicate to her though
>>74659530
but it's not a good album. It fails to create an atmosphere it's just a guy whining about the same thing for 40 minutes
>>74659523
after ocean roar it was all downhill. at least it's better than sauna. barely.
>Death is real
>Someone's there and then they're not
>And it's not for singing about
>It's not for making into art
Explains why the album is so shit.
>>74659581
>aimless guitars
>mumbled vocals
The lyrics are the only redeeming factor, it's good poetry, it's just boring as hell musically
>>74659523
I don't know, I just remember thinking all the songs sounded the same.

yea it sounds like he started making the album and then didn't have the heart, but he's a fucking musician and he does this for a living so making it a ramshackle mess was a fair compromise
but people are giving it credit for the story and not the music. every other mount eerie album is better

>wife dies
>only wines for 40 minutes
It's not bad just not the aoty like everyone's claiming. Think of it as a 40 minute melancholic song desu
It feels very forced
I think it's one of the most interesting albums about death in recent memory, made more interesting by the fact that everything about the situation was so public.
You could probably argue it would have been virtually unchanged if it was a spoken word album with no instrumentation, but I don't think the instrumentation detracts from the product either. I think the ideas put forward are worth examining. In particular, the way he denounces the Mount Eerie album as hollow compared to the actual experience of death is very interesting, IMO.
