I haven't listened to shoegaze in like two weeks. What's wrong with me? Am I dying?

>>74646298

That's not how it works, there are no absolute colors. Every person with it experiences their own set of sensations because the condition is caused sometime around when their infant brain is first trying to make sense of the world.

My man, this is a great album that got me into Cocteau. Ethereal to the max, beautiful incomprehensible lyrics from Liz, and just a straight up blueprint for later dream pop records.

Why are they not more popular. Copacetic is a masterpiece.
>>
>>74651408
Has an incredible vibe to it. It's hard to describe but it's icy, antiquated, dark, microscopic, yet magnificent. Like wandering inside a beautiful ice cavern and seeing brown winged moths frozen inside the walls. Idk if anyone else feels the same.

Fantastic set of songs, probably the band's all around best, but I do wish the production were just a bit less slick. Like, if this album had the production of Blue Bell Knoll then we'd be really cookin'.

Recently listened to Eureka for the first time even though I've been in shugaze for years, really enjoyed the first half of the album.
Unfortunately checked out the rest of their disco and it was more just alt-rock with reverb.

https://youtu.be/4Fwi7mysiAY?t=1190
My question is about this part, I love the climaxes in poppier shoegaze like this, Asobi Seksu has a couple moments like this too.
Any other recommendations for any songs/bands like this?
I don't frequent generals so it's quite possible a popular artist on here is unknown to me.

In return listen to this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-qCv2E6o4IQ, it's bossanova with dreamy/psychedelia production.
>>
>>74657491
I've heard people argue that it's too Britpop to be considered Shoegaze

semantic nonsense like the rest of genre arguments, at the absolute least Ride sounds like Ride, which has unquestionable Shoegaze elements. Of the "Big Three" it is arguably the most related to a Britpop/alt rock sound, but that doesn't disqualify it from being Shoegaze
>>
>>74672412

I say Cock-tay-ooo
>>
>>74675597
yeah i suppose Nothing kind of just absorbed Whirr once the two bands started playing together constantly
>>
>>74675854
I mean Nothing is basically a poor man's Whirr, they have a similar sound yeah but it's nowhere near as hard-hitting from what I've listened to. Also I feel bad for the rest of Whirr besides Nick, he basically did them in by making the GLOSS comments on their Twitter, and now he's the only one out of Whirr to still be on the map musically thanks to Nothing. I feel bad especially for Loren, I ran into him one time and he told me that he feels bad about the shitty attitude they had and wishes he could go back and stop the GLOSS comments from happening. He didn't mention specifically if it was the group as a whole who did that, but IFAIK it's been put on record that Nick was the one who made those remarks. The reason I feel bad for Loren in particular is his kid was born right before the band broke up and now he's not really on the map anymore, I don't even know if he's making a decent living or not. All because Nick couldn't keep his mouth shut on Twitter.

So, I finished this and I have to say, everything prior to Loveless is really aggressive. Don't know how to feel about this. Sure, all the records were great except TIYBV, but they seem a different band in Loveless.
>>
>>74679215
Isn't Anything is a grower I think. Now I consider the last half of it to be the best streak of songs in their discography. You will find that it's actually really melodious and catchy, but the melodies are just crushed by noise, and not in the comforting way that Loveless does it.
Also how is Ecstasy, Strawberry Wine, and Sunny Sundae Smile aggressive?

I didn't listen to Strawberry Wine.
Ecstasy is definitely an exception. For SSS, I mean that you can absolutely hear the punk/post-punk (I'm still not sure what post-punk is though) influence, specially in the drumming pattern.
>Isn't Anything is a grower
I thought the same. I think it's the record I enjoyed the most from that chart.
But again, as I said, they feel like a different band in that album. Not that it's a bad thing, but it changed the vision I had about this band a lot.
