Those guys are playing with so much feeling and energy and meanwhile the crowd look like they're watching a matinee at the local community theater. I just don't understand why you would go to see this insane funky, face-melting live music (and presumably pay for it too) then sit on a lawn chair the whole time and occasionally tap your foot to the beat. If I was at that show there's no way I wouldn't be grooving out just as hard as the band members are. Is this really what the modern "jazz scene" is like?
They want to pay attention to the music
It's not a pop rock concert, people don't want the audience to be screaming and banging their heads
If This is the way they want to enjoy the music what ever, but if I was there I'd be grooving like a motherfucker
Because jazz fans have high IQ and don't behave like primitive commoners at rock/hip hop shows.

you must be very smart

HOLY FUCKING CRINGE
Jazz fans are mostly very old and barely alive. It's not that they don't wan't to move, most of them are physically unable to. Just breathing and trying not to piss their pants is already consuming most of their energy.
