It really is overrated, I don't rank it among his best at all. It's okay at most. I know Bowie was flamboyant and poppy, but it wasn't to this degree. At least Ziggy and Aladdin Sane had a fantastic blend of that and hard rock so it had grit. But there's no grit in HD that makes it interesting in it. I don't like Changes, Life on Mars, especially Kooks(which is just a shit song). I only like quicksand really. Everyone ranks it among his best like Low, Heroes, SM, Ziggy, Station and I don't see it whatsoever

Bowie can only do pop when it's mixed in with something else. It just gets stomped by his masterpiece songs like Heroes, Rock and Roll Suicide, Always Crashing in the Same Car, Ashes to Ashes, etc...

It's hit and miss for me but a lot of Bowie albums are. That said, aside from the classics, Bewlay Brothers in particular is an amazing track and one of his best.
