Well fuck. I've been trying to find whacky stuff like early XTC for a while, and I feel like I was mired in new wave shit that didn't quite scratch the itch.
P-Model and Uchoten and definitely a good start, thanks lads.

This is one of the worst opinions that I have ever read on /mu/.
Both clauses are wrong, but especially the latter. Where you see a full version that "drags", there is in fact a good, extended rockout that does bridge-verse-bridge-solo-weird stuff and changes up all the time, while staying true to the theme. The effect is that much better when, like me, you grew up with hearing the odd radio edit and then you actually experience the full version.
You're a fucking fool.
Adam Ant's first album is quite good - Dirk Wears White Sox

Definitely check out all Nagomu Records stuff in general, in addition to Uchoten and the others that have been listed here, try out Metro Farce and Minca Panopica. Karate Bakabon also has Kera of Uchoten in it.

I absolutely love Uchoten, I own most a majority of Kera's albums that are still in print and I could import. I do recommend trying out Peace first rather than Dohyou Ouji though.
>>74634436
Good list, its been a while since I've listened to SPY actually, I've been meaning to relisten to their album.
Hikashu's later stuff went more experimental rock and they started to dissociate themselves from the original technopop movement. I saw them live earlier this year and got a copy of Silence be Alive signed.
>>74634715
Zin-Say are definitely a favourite of mine too. I'm still surprised that Pierre Taki and Takkyu Ishino have actually made a name for themselves now with Denki Groove.
>>74635585
P-Model's stuff past Potpourri is much less New Wave, but its all really good. I really like their defrosted era technopop too.
>>74645536
>that collection
>that uchoten-ish sheet
10/10.
I also recommend "Peace" as the best entry-level Uchoten album.
>>74645536
oh shit dude thats a 10/10 collection
any chance you'd be willing to share that kera & the synthesizers compilation album?
>>74640906
Definitely Sparks. Whomp That Sucker and Angst in my Pants were the best albums of their New Wave period.

Same here, but at the same time it cracks me up.
I imagine the Canyon people asking Kera what he needed for the video and he just saying "Let me storm into some stores and destroy some of our own merch".

>>74646576
Not him, but personally I loved both the new EP and album by Uchoten. They still sound like Uchoten, it's amazing.
No Lie-Sense is 2 geniuses like Kera and Suzuki working together, plus a lot of guests on different tracks, like Kenji Ohtsuki. They also cover songs by both Uchoten and Moonriders, as well as brand new songs.
I loved both albums by them and hope for a third.
>>74646776
Same for the Uchoten EP, really dug it. I'm really glad they're still in such good shape. Haven't heard the new album yet tho.
No Lie-Sense is fucking amazing as well, I hope they'll be sticking around for longer because I love their sound.

You seem upset.
I wont argue whether or not the song drags, I do in fact think its an excellent song on an amazing record. But comparing it to
>Planet Claire
>52 Girls
>Dance this Mess Around
>Hero Worship
>Downtown
The song lacks the character and concisness coming off more as the most gimmicky track on the record. It doesn't deliver the one liners aswell as the other tracks. And with the vocal focus off the girls it loses the cute animosity that the rest of the record has. Theres no angst, its just got a catchy riff that they play around forever
B-52s S/T and Wild Planet
To a lesser extent, Mesopotamia and Whammy
A Fierce Pancake by Stump also applies, it reminds me a lot of Oingo Boingo.
