Astral Weeks has some legendary jazz musicians in the band - great bassist Richard Davis that played on a ton of key 60's jazz albums and drummer Connie Kay who played with Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and then in the Modern Jazz Quartet for most of MJQ's existence
that said, the thread has some good suggestions - Buckley and Drake are good, canonical choices and Terry Callier is a surprising rec, but works well - Van Morrison was always a blue-eyed soul kind of a guy, so an actual soul man is not that big of a stretch, Dancing Girl is an all-time great track
