Is grindcore music a subgenre of metal or punk? I can't decide.

both dumbshit
>>74624807
it's the genre of its own
it's a cross between the two
>Born out of the British Crust Punk scene, the original incarnation of grindcore, most notably embraced by the bands Napalm Death and early Carcass, incorporated elements from Thrash Metal and Thrashcore and raised them to new levels of extremity and aggression.
It's punk with metal influences, so punk.

Early grindcore was more to the punk side, but now it is definitely closer to metal. Even Napalm Death call themselves a metal band.
