I like this album.

I think of it as an experiment in recording quality as an intentional artistic element in music. Which, to be fair, is hardly a new concept, but I think it was well executed here.

Anyway, because of the sheer volume that this was recorded at, the recording has a unique sound quality. Guitars, keyboards, drums, random shit feeding back, and gira's vocals are all melted down into this all-encompassing wall of noise that is unique to this recording.

Again, a wall of noise isn't necessarily a new concept. It's just that this specific wall of noise is unique.

Anyway, it's definitely not for everyone. And at almost an hour and a half, I can't say I find myself wanting to listen to the entire thing very often. But I appreciate it for what it is.
