The funny thing is Kurt's songwriting is clearly more influenced by Greg Sage but everyone says he ripped off the Melvins and The Pixies (which is something he himself said). If you ask me I hear a LOT more Wipers in his songwriting.

Just listen to post-grunge shit then. Bush, Puddle of Mudd and Seether should get you started well. Also the rule of thumb for Post-Grunge is the earlier the better. They all start out sounding raw and ragged and trying to rip off their influences before morphing into Arena Buttrock bullshit. Every last fucking one of them. Seriously.
