This album is a 10/10 and saved rock music, prove me wrong.
cause rock was never saved, it was born in the 50's and died in the 90's

Who's Next was better in my opinion.
>>74586371
One of their worst. Still good, but they were beginning to lose it by this one.

Punk and prog were in opposition at the time, and since they paved the way for both genres, The Who found a stylistic middle ground to unite rock fans against the growing relevancy of shitty dance music. Listen to Had Enough, which opens with a synth riff and progresses musically, while at the same time carrying with it an aggressive attitude. It succeeded and paved the way for punk bands like PiL and Black Flag to experiment more, bands like Cardiacs, and single handedly killed disco.

Who's Next is their best but this is criminally underrated.

It's definitely better than Quadrophenia.

It's pretty tedious, dude. Where Tommy goes in and out of its story with motifs and brief tracks, Quadrophenia has motifs that get annoying with a story that doesn't seem to be worth telling. Tommy is silly too but at least it's musically unpredictable and has a character you can care about. Pete's songwriting is stilted, Keith is monotonous with all those rolls on the toms, and Roger is reaching desperately for emotion. I really like John's bass tone though. Quadrophenia boasts hints at great musicianship, and some hints at great songs, too. But mostly, it boasts a vibe that allows nostalgic, vaguely hip shit-kickers to play air guitar and not feel totally lame.

The title track is the only good one

But Quadrophenia has less filler and more consistent than Tommy
Who Are You [MCA, 1978]
Every time I concentrate, I can make out some new detail in Roger's singing or Pete's guitar or John Entwistle's bass guitar. Not in Keith's drumming though, and I still don't relate to the synthesizer. But I never learn anything new and this is not my idea of fun rock-and-roll. It should be one or the other, if not both. B

The Real Me is filler.
Cut My Hair is filler.
Is it in My Head is filler.
I've Had Enough is filler.
>>74586371
Literally who?
>>74587141
Christgau has a reliably terrible ear for hard rock though.
Pete Townshend has admitted anyway that Quadrophenia was their last great burst of creativity and it was all downhill from there.
>>74587298
He thinks The Who were traitors and sellouts for doing prog and they should have just kept making The Who Sell Out over and over and over.

>literally the first two songs which deliberately explain the main character's perception of the world and his relationship to his peers in the beginning are filler
>the ending of the first half and the main character's crisis of faith is filler
What the fuck did he mean by this?
