2112, Tarkus, and Fear Of A Blank Planet are my personal favorite progressive rock (well, metal in the case of foabp, but whatevs) albums.

I understand why it is considered post-hardcore. I understand that it launched post-rock singlehandedly. But for what reason would it not be considered progressive rock? It is experimental rock that utilizes odd time signatures, weird chords, and different song structures. It has all the hallmarks of prog rock. If they had called themselves prog directly and made the same album, it would not even be up for debate.
