What was your favorite part of this heartbreaking experience anon?
It's okay to admit you cried.
what a piece of shit album, seriously. nothing memorable or noteworthy past the first track. an album only appreciated for it's context and artful intentions.
Clear Moon is a million times better
If the main acclaim of an album only comes from its context and/or lyrics then that's not enough

DUDE MY WIFE'S DEAD LMAO
NOW EVERYONE CAN TELL IT'S A 10/10 JUST BECAUSE OF THE CONCEPT AND CAN'T CRITICIZE IT BECAUSE IT'S DULL AND BORING TRASH
Is is mucore yet?
>oh shit my wife died let me throw out this uninspired piece of shit album that will be impossible to critique and watch as indie kids defend it as a soul-crushing emotional folk masterpiece when in reality it's highly mediocre and would get torn apart by critics if it didn't have "muh dead wife". Also check my p4k feature where sulk around and act like the fake piece of shit corny milquetoast sad artist I am.
What did he mean by this?
>>74529294
t. Someone whos never lost their wife and love of their life
>>74529294
Was he always a hack? Were the experimental tracks on the glow pt2 tasteful or indulgent wankery? I don't know anymore
>>74529089
I can't get pass 1st track. I mean, all of these fucks that say that it's uninspired and selling completely based on the fact that he lost his wife, are kinda right... but then I listen to that fuckign first track. I like listening to a close friend talking about it.
I cry, everytime. if you don't it's fine, but for me it's just too much to handle.

It's his most interesting work since the glow pt 2. (mount eerie was neat too)
And the personal lyrics are the same reason someone would listen to Leonard Cohen or... Carrie and Lowell. If you think all those are shit I think you should leave this board.

those albums don't let the music take a dramatic turn for the worst like phil did.
probably some of the worst music he has released.
pretty much spoken word.

TROLLED HIM GOOD LMAO
>>74529403
The hardest redpill to swallow is that Phil has never actually been that good. For the majority of his career he has coasted off hype and critical acclaim. He's not particularly skilled at any instrument, not the best singer, not even the best lyricist. There are folk songwriters who have done what he did way better
>>74529403
???
you can't honestly tell me phil's playing on this album is good instrumentally?
especially compared to c&l ?
>>74529435
There's just something about him though. I enjoy his music.
Phil is a pussy. Should have made a black metal album and got angry at god for taking his wife.
>>74529089
When Phil sings "I went back to feel alone" with the same melody as in The Moon I just started weeping like a damn baby.
Haven't listened the album in full more than once.

He's one of the best songwriters/producers of modern times, though.
>listening to this album for first time ever in bed with girlfriend last night
>we´re both cuddling in bed with tears rolling down our faces in silence
>the song ´swims´comes on
>"But then only two months after you died, our counselor died"
>girlfriend starts loudly laughing for over a minute
>have to turn off album
