Name a rock band whose legacy is in more dire need of a reboot.
Nah, I love them but I think they left off in a fitting way, slowly progressing into more and more accessible indie rock and then ending because Thurston is a shitty person. People who would enjoy them will find out about them.
As someone who has listened to their music a lot in the past, they were as talented as they were lazy and they have become fittingly forgettable
Bad Moon Rising is their best 80s album and you can't tell me otherwise.
Breakup drama aside, I thought Sonic Youth's legacy was still solid?

From a commercial perspective, yeah. There's money that could be made there marketing bands like Sonic Youth to disenfranchised teens.
I don't think they care all that much about maintaining their legacy or shifting a few units at the cost of what's left of their tattered reputation.
