which modern composers that are in vogue now will be totally forgotten?
is that mark kozelek
Indie "classical" composers for pop listeners like Steve Reich, Philip Glass and John Adams
Einaudi.
That piece of shit isn't even classical, he's repetitive piano fluff, and yet music plebs are constantly requesting his shit be played on Classic FM.

>classic fm
my nigga whenever I turn that shit on it's either playing "flight of the valkyries" or chopin's second nocturne. Where the variety at?

I just don't listen to it, unless other people have it on.
To prove a point of how pointless and repetitive the Classic FM chart is, within less than a month of dedicating myself to discovering classical, I unearthed two composers my mum hadn't heard of in some 30 years of her own library building.
Balakirev and Scharwenka, if you're interested.
Balakirev's symphonic poems, Russia and Tamara, are worth checking out.
Scharwenka's 2nd, 3rd and 4th piano concertos.

No he's just the kind of shit composer who will stay in vogue for a long time. Not that there are a lot of "in vogue" classical composers at the moment, who knows or cares who Rihm, Henze, Higson, Birtwhisle is except a small niche of modern classical fans who are already a small nice of general classical fans. Gorecki or Penderecki might live on but for only one work apiece which is not much different to how Moussorgsky or Ravel are remembered.
Probably glass, hillborg and adams will die when people get sick of slow/minimalist music, reich might stick along though. I hope to god the whitacre craze dies out, it probably will when people realize his music all sounds the same.
I think we'll see more neoromantic music, and hope that Aho, Rautavaara, and pettersson's music gets remembered.
