She's Melanie Martinez, won The Voice of America and then made an electropop concept album about a crazy toddler character she created, Crybaby. She looks like this in most of her videos. She has a good singing voice and is good with the guitar, the album is pretty ok, considering it's her first work and that she's only 21. She gained a massive following on Tumblr, tough, so that side of her fanbase is what puts most people off (even Melanie herself, as she was considerably stressed out by Tumblr users calling her mommy and stealing some of her stuff during concerts).
Tumblr will be Tumblr, I guess.
I legitimately enjoy her work, though.

Pretty medioce artist. Not generic in the true sense of the word but generic as far as the whole tumblr aesthetic goes.
On that topic I find the whole aesthetic absolutely repulsive so I find it hard to enjoy any of her music at all. The whole adpoting-mental-health-issues-as-her-whole-identity thing crossed with the repulsive little girl/baby concept is gross imo.

Unironically love her. She can sing, her beats are fire as fuck, and I personally think she can write pretty well. Her concept is a little uncomfortable to lots, so I get that.
I actually had VIP tickets when she was touring last year. She was very nice and seemed genuinely grateful to every person there. She had to cut off the tour short though, because her vocal chords were getting fucked and it showed in her performances.
Can't wait for the Mad Hatter music video, the movie, and next album.
