Go for melody first, just with your voice making syllables. That's the real "key": not overthinking, but starting with the "sound" first, then working towards words based on your concept that also "feel" like the sound.
If you start with words, it always fails because you are going backwards and have to contort the pulse of the music to fit your words, which is all wrong.
Also, less is often more. Hope this helps.
