How far will you poptimists go to defend this pointless hill you've chosen to die on? You know as well as the rest of us that mainstream music is trash and yet you constantly feel the inclination to defend it from people who have even more vapid taste than you. Why do you do it? Smug contrarian validation? Epic upvotes? Why do you champion shit taste as a virtue as if someone has to do it for the rest of us? Do you imagine yourself a cultured gentleman who is able to listen to Top 40 shit and against all odds actually enjoy it, to the dismay of dad-rock loving preteens? People make mistakes and they don't want anyone to tell them they are wrong. People is egocentric and they won't rectify even if someone shows them their mistakes.
