How do you organise your music folders? What's the best way? I have it organised just by artist but I wonder if it would be easier to sort through my collection if I organised it via genre, although that just makes you ask more questions like what music to put where, and if it's worth creating a folder for a new genre when you only listen to one artist from that genre.

I suffer being disorganised.

If you want to organize by genre, add it to your tags and sort that way in your player. Don't do it with your folder structure. That's retarded.

I already have it organised that way but it's not particualry effective when you have like 400 artists to choose from.

Do you seriously open your file browser and navigate to your music files to play them? Use a fucking music player/organizer so that you can sort by whatever tags you want, but leave the file structure alone. All you're going to do is turn it into a clusterfuck.

this, 100% this. I used to waste time renaming files and folders and then realized it's a billion times easier to just leave that as-is and make sure my files are tagged correctly (foobar2000 - select files > properties > tools - automatically fill values...etc). Your filesystem is not your music library -- or if it is, it's going to be incredibly inefficient.

no bully pls

It never felt like much of a difference to me. Navigating through hundreds of artist folders in windows explorer feels pretty much the same as navigating through hundreds of artists in foobar.

Sorry but this is a very bad opinion
