I listened to Big Black yesterday when I was mowing my yard and Tool when I woke up today. I then decided to listen to some music I've never listened to.

only listened to two albums since the last thread but came in here to say I gotta give a very hard rec for Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana (Shiina Ringo). That album fucking rules and is absolutely essential to anyone who likes Kate Bush/Bjork/Grimes/etc
>>
>>74471412
I'm really satisfied with it, even though I've never really gotten into black metal before. I didn't like De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas, and my only other exposure was Deafheaven's Sunbather. Yes.
Still, Bathory is damn good.

Mint Chicks are cool.

I've been preparing for a festival taking place this weekend. I knew like 6 artists out of 25 I'm seeing before listening to the rest.

I like the whole package but Big Fish, 745 and BagBak stuck on me the best. I really enjoy the dance vibe of the album.

Yup. Saturday and Sunday.
I'm most interested in Saturday but I'm happy to spend an extra 50€ for another day, instead of trying to find a ticket scalper just for the Saturday ticket.
Already went to the Sideways festival this year so I thought I'd lay off festivals for this year. Long story short a friend of mine showed me how wrong I was.

George Best was ok. I definitely prefer the gazier sound of Seamonsters and I think I was trying to get used to his voice the entirety of George Best.
I digged Snowball a lot. This Love is Not Wrong was the standout and it may or may not be because it reminds me of a certain Pains of Being Pure at Heart song.

All 2017 stuff except the Ferneyhough because it really takes the whole "you discover something new every listen" thing to a whole new level.
>>74471750
Current 93 is fucking great. Thunder Perfect Mind in particular approaches Neo Folk in so many different ways. I would recommend checking out the Nurse With Wound album Thunder Perfect Mind as well; it's the sister album to C93's version but it's very different.
>>74471714
The RDJ Album is probably still my favorite Aphex Twin record just because of how many times I have played it over and over again. It's insanely catchy with a busy enough rhythm section for it to be interesting. Make sure to hit the Special Herbs releases Dumile did as Metal Fingers; dude's not as well known for his instrumentals but those are some great ones.
>>74471661
Just For A Day is still among the very small number of shoegaze records that have a very thin, ethereal feel to them. Another one in a similar vein I really like that I would suggest is Eyedazzler by Alison's Halo.
>>74471482
Japanese peeps do indeed make some very interesting art pop stuff. Another very cool release like that is Susumu Hirasawa's Technique Of Relief. Very fascinating how it's a Japanese dude but the music is very Thai influenced.
>>74471412
I really need to peep that Bersarin Quartett album. Only really know Immunity otherwise. If you never got around to it, check out Actress' Splazsh it's similar but with more of a techno feel to it.
>>74471372
Really like everything but the last record here. Check out Celtic Frost's Morbid Tales if you dig that particular Bathory album.
>>74471276
Can't go wrong with Bitches Brew. It might not have sheer improvisational depth of the stuff Miles did before, but it has such a colorful arrangement that gets used in various creative ways. For a more...modern take on that, check out Electric Masada's At The Mountains Of Madness.

Like No.74472461 said. I listened to it immediately after listening to Bathory's self-titled. It's goddamn amazing. I'm listening to Shinsekai next.
>>

>how's black magick ss?
When looking at the composition side of the music, it's very akin to Swedish psych hard rock band Graveyard if you ever listened to them. Meaty riffs that even metal fans like along with prominent organ and all that. But what really differentiates them is their sound, which is raw as fuck like some lofi trve kvlt shit. Also their vocalist goes between black metal vocals and the cleaner vocals one would expect from a heavy psych band. Would recommend if you like heavy psych rock and black metal. It's shorter than their last album, too at only 27 minutes so nothing feels like it overstays its welcome.

Black Mountain album was hit or miss for me.
