What's your favorite non-metal album of 2017? I mainly listen to metal, and I've heard a good bit of other genres, but I'm sure I'm missing some gems.

Currently listening to the new Richard Dawson album. Thanks in advance, /moo/.

One of my favorites for sure.

Yeah, I saw that on RYM, and thought it had some pretty cool tags. I'll check that out.

What metal from this year is worth listening to, OP? It doesn't seem like there's much out there worth listening to, especially compared to last year. Only metal album this year that really got my attention was that Pillorian album.

On-topic: both King Gizzard albums

None, like every other year

Looking forward to the new albums from Haggis horns and Shaolin Temple Defenders, not sure what else is coming out desu

i rarely listen to metal and the new Wintersun is my AOTY so far. Other than that I guess A Crow Looked At Me is still a strong contender. A lot of what I'm most looking forward to is still yet to come out (Deerhoof, Sparks, Electric Six)

I've fucking fell off this year, guys. I got overwhelmed with school and fell out of touch with new cutting edge stuff.
I liked the new Ariel Pink, the new Death Grips, and am really looking forward to the new Liars and the new John Maus, and a couple of those soundtracks coming out.
Anyone know of any funky pop or great heavy bands from this year? Some post punky shit? Some electronic shit played live? I remember I really liked that one punk band Fantano was freaking out about but I don't remember it.
>>74466495
definitely gonna check out some of this too

Street Sects?
>>
>>74466678
Nah nah it was from this year. They were from the UK I think. I think it was just like a really tight three piece punk band. They sang about some of the political shit happening in Europe and it was really well done, not as obnoxious as a lot of the politically tinged stuff I've heard in America lately (but like I said, I haven't heard much from this year)

I didn't care for it one bit.

Yup this is it I think! Thanks
>>
>>74466718
Oh yeah I bet that was it but I was gonna guess Sleaford Mods
>>
>>74466726
The new Uniform record was similar to Idles as I recall. There's also Gnod I thinkbtheure called especially if you want political. Not that I followed the lyrics very closely.
>>
>>74466492
normiecore
>>
>>74466751
I don't necessarily want political specifically, but I'm always happy to hear politically flavored music pulled off well. I'll check both of these out, thanks!

>>74466730
I liked Sleaford Mods as well actually. I really like energetic, repetitive music
>>
>>74466703
eh, it's nothing amazing but I do like it. They do poppy well without being boring or cloying. Could do without all the guest vocalists though
>>
>>74466455
Power Trip, Full of Hell, Extremity, Hyborian, Ascended Dead have all put out some great, great albums this year. If you want something more experimental, Ex Eye is an instrumental jazz metal band led by Colin Stetson.
>>
>>74466495
Some of this sounds really interesting. Thanks.
