Would a third album back in the day have been good? Little birds is on the same level as Itaots. Do you think he has a bunch of unused material or did he just stop writing and switch his interests.

There's been tons of reports that he still makes tons of music. It was just too dark, there wasnt any room for fun E6 recording sessions or whacky singing saws and melodicas. He didn't enjoy the process, anymore. I'll have to dig for it, but there's an article somewhere that discussed how much Jeff Mangum sorta imploded emotionally. There was a huge burden to follow up Aeroplane, even from the beginning and I think he just wanted to get away from that
