This is unironically a great album.

Mah niggah.
In Too Deep is a bit too schmaltzy for me (makes me appreciate the ballads on Duke a lot more), and I'd rather have had Do The Neurotic over The Brazilian though.

The Brazilian is fine. It would've been a great prologue to Domino if they were paired in the tracklist.

*epilogue
Every song is a masterpiece. Tonight tonight took a long time to grow on me. Feels like not enough happens for and 8 min sing but I like all the sections.
invisible touch is easily my favoirte phil collins related song
their undisputed masterpiece

The Brazilian is still a really good song, I just prefer Do The Neurotic
It must be quite jarring to someone who's only heard Phil's solo work to listen to this and hear it get growingly more complex throughout. We cant dance is better for this imo, only because its far more prog at times. This one only scratches the surface.
It's an epic meditation on intangibility. At the same time, it deepens and enriches the meaning of the preceding three albums.

But that's the thing. It actually IS an epic meditation on intangibility. It is a very thematically cohesive album. There's a lot of subtle brilliance to Genesis. How many other pop acts make a concept album?

Good man
Remember when Phil used Throwing it All Away to advertise Frito Lay

Dookie felt more cohesive though.

NO DRUMPH
NO KKK
NO FASCIST USA

It also irritates the shit out of me when people either reference Phil Collins and Genesis songs interchangeable or imply that they sound exactly alike.
>>74458449
Normies will literally... and I mean literally... never understand. It takes a lot of deprogramming for them to start to understand what Genesis is really about. There's just too much baggage associated with the Phil Collins sound.

>mention to someone that Genesis is my favorite band
>"What? You like Phil Collins? Lame."
>Never talk to him again
>>74459079
Explaining that they used to be prog doesn't work either, because anyone who has the slightest idea what that means already knows what Genesis is.
