I like CDs because I can play them in the car
>>
CDs
>can put in car
>hold more music
>shitty cases
>objectively the best quality

vinyl
>looks more cool
>big album art
>pops and crackles
>only for big dicks
>>
wax cylinders
>>
CD is better quality and more convenient. Vinyl looks cooler.
>>
Vinyl for collecting, CDs for playing
>>
Kidnapping the band and dragging them around and making them play the song you want to listen to

Vinyl

i think it's pretty obvious which is best

CDs:
-Can be played in car, but that's useless anyway because of bluetooth/aux/USB etc
-Takes up less space
-Cheaper but zero resale value

Vinyl:
-Bigger art
-Gives the most value in terms of owning something physical
-Takes up a lot of space and is a pain in the ass to deal with when you are moving
-More expensive but considerable resale value and most modern records come with the CD anyway

Buying CDs is like paying rent. You're just pissing away money
>>
depends how it was mastered, desu

the original master tape

I want to own a physical copy of an album, that doesn't take up space, where I can look at the art and liner notes conveniently, and can then be transferable online. Pissing money?

this

>Pissing money?
Yeah absolutely

Though at my age I know not to spend money on such a dumb thing

I have about $15,000 worth of vinyl I need to be getting rid of soon

Not everything has to be an investment

Reel To Reel is better than both lmao.
>Inb4 I become crucifued.

Agreed.

But I regret buying all those records 6 years later.

I love them, I do.

But the money would've been better off in an IRA or something

True answer

I have compared CDs to vinyl versions of albums on my set up. Honestly, some albums sounded better on vinyl and some sounded better on CD (Bon Iver's s/t comes to mind the pressing of it is God awful). So it really just depends on the mastering and pressing quality.

disappointed desu baka

real answer: it doesn't matter unless you have a good stereo setup
>>
CD unless the master for vinyl is better, which isn't that common.

CDs do not have the physical limitations that vinyl does.
>>
>>74456555
This 100%

Both:
>Fun to collect
>Come with lyric sheets/booklets
>Come with cool sleeve art or booklet art
>Very high audio quality

Vinyl:
>Big album art
>Sometimes come with extra goodies
>Actually putting an album on a record player is kinda cool
>"Warm vinyl sound"
>More collection value

CDs:
>More portable
>More durable
>Can be played in cars
>Cheaper
>Better for secondhand/thrift store picking
>Good CD setup doesn't cost nearly as much as a good vinyl setup

Both are good, but each one has their ups and downs. Vinyl if you have a decent amount of money, CDs if you're on a budget

I have similar views. Vinyl is just fun to collect. I have some very rare records that are over 1/8" thick from the early 1900s that were given to me. Mostly old blues and big band. I also have a stack of records from the Watchtower Society, from when Jehovah's Witnesses used to go door to door with portable record players. Also, just a tip. If you buy from Amazon, most of the time their vinyl sales come with free mp3 rips.

Cassette:
>smol
>portable
>sweet-ass J-cards
>easily able to make custom tracklistings

what more do you want
