Based on lyrical content alone.

Well did his lyrics have more of an impact than Dylan? No.
Are his lyrics better than Dylan? No.
So, no.

>Are his lyrics better than Dylan? No.
Debatable.

>Well did his lyrics have more of an impact than Dylan? No.
Hallelujah alone probably had more impact than anything Dylan ever wrote.

>Hallelujah alone probably had more impact than anything Dylan ever wrote.
Objectively untrue. Dylan had multiple musical movements spawned due to his lyrics, and paved the way for more surrealist lyricism in popular music

The first five seconds of "Like a Rolling Stone" had more impact than any piece of music in the Western world in the last 100 years. STFU

Neither deserve a nobel prize. Music is not literature.

I wish but no

But are lyrics?

Cohen, Dylan and Neil Young are my 3 favorite songwriters ever. Out of those I think Dylan is more poetic, Cohen is more literary, Neil is more realist.

Highway 61 Revisited is probably one of the most important albums in the Western world of the last 100 years.
Wish I could spoiler but Jeff Buckley's "Hallelujah" is much better btw

That's out of the question because OP is asking who the best lyricist is, not the best cover. And Blond on Blond and Blood on the Tracks are way better than Highway 61.

This guy gets it. Blonde on Blonde is the best 60s album period imho

Oh I'm not arguing about which Dylan album is better, that's pretty hard to decide but I agree with you.
But as far as importance and influence on Western culture goes, I would definitely say Highway 61 beats both of those. Especially since it has Like A Rolling Stone on it
