I "covered" a live Reggie Watts improv song.
I know it's pretty crappy, but vocal looping is super fun.
Toy mic -> Guitar looper pedal -> Fender Champion -> phone mic

Thanks very much anon. Have my party piece, Bob Dylan's "worst song" to my own tune (with a few pauses as I was struggling with B7 chord at the time).

Yes anon, but you should put a bit more heart into it. You hit the right notes and you have a nice voice but you barely open your mouth so it all comes out mumbled. Might be intentional for the style of music or you might just be a bit shy, not sure, but you would sound better if you sang with more expression.

thanks : ) i actually am really really trying to sing with more expression lately. i've got similar feedback about my band's original music and i really want to learn how to sell what i'm singing about. any tips? maybe it's cos i'm very very awkward or something but i honestly have no idea how to sound convincing instead of just sounding like i'm singing.

You're a much more accomplished guitarist than me but what I find helps is singing silly, cheesy songs that make me want to laugh - like my Wiggle Wiggle one for instance. Songs that put a smile on my face or force me to hold in my laugh I notice have a good impact on my voice and expression. If you can't think of any, maybe try writing some to amuse yourself - I wrote a really shitty song about being followed by evil seagulls for example, it's preposterous and I know it but I love singing it and I like singing it loud like an idiot.

And a tip from someone with an unusual voice who did extremely well for himself - Bob Dylan always refers to singing like you believe every word you are saying is true. If you're not a fan listen to Girl from the North Country from The Freewheelin' Bob Dylan and Shelter from the Storm, listen to the sheer expression in his voice, it's sad and beautiful and there's just nothing else quite like it. Listen to how certain words are enunciated and emphasised above others.

yeah i love his voice. thanks so much for the tips. thats the kind of feeling i wanna go for like dylan or mangum or jonathan richman. they sound like they really believe what they are singing and bc of that their emotions transfer to the listener through the lyrics but also just through the expression in their voice. you would understand how they are feeling even if you didnt speak english.
