Alcest - Écailles de Lune (created the other trend of shoegaze influenced black metal which has done very well among casual metal/non-metal fans; the most popular of which is Deafheaven's Sunbather)

Periphery - s/t (if Killswitch Engage is the band responsible for making popular the melodic metalcore trend in the 2000s, its equivalent in the 2010s is this and its for djent; yes Meshuggah made the genre but the djent riffs with wank in between trend was all these guys)

I guess your taste is part atmospheric/ambient stuff like atmo black metal, atmo sludge, blackgaze/shoegaze, post-rock, stuff like Mount Eerie, etc.; and part post-hardcore, sludge, metalcore, grindcore, …–core and so on and so forth. I am new to BM and Reinkaos is so far my #1 favorite in the genre. I don't know why everyone shits on it. The melody blows away 90% of all other BM. The chugging Les Paul chords and the worship songs sound really powerful.

Reinkaos was my gateway too, checked it out shortly after Nodtveidt punched his card because I was an edgy teenager. Some of the riffs are good but it's not a "good" album, and it's in no shape or way black metal at all.

If you're into the "melody" in black metal, check out bands from the Finnish and German scenes, especially the more pagan and nature oriented acts.

Out of the big four I'd say Slayer is the worst overall.
They had a bit of spark with World Painted Blood, a couple of good songs there, but ultimately a large chunk of their songs sound the same. (They kind of have the AC/DC curse. Where like a handful of their songs are good and everything else just sounds like a minor variant of said old song)

Been listening to more Anthrax lately myself. I feel they are pretty underrated.
