how come emo revival peaked before it was even a thing?

The market became saturated with painfully mediocre and uninspired garbage which did nothing to move the genre forward. Revivals are rarely ever a good thing, they mostly just stagnate the inevitable death of the original style to the point that once innovative albums now sound incredibly dated

Run for Cover literally killed the entire thing. 2008-2009 was the apex of all of this anyway.
