Can you recommend me a good turntable setup for 500 to 800$? I'm a little clueless on what to buy for a decent listening quality. Pls no crosley funny jokes
Where do you live?
Your best bet is to go vintage. A lot of vintage equipment from good brands (e.g., Pioneer, Technics, etc) will blow the living shit out of modern stuff under $1000 for A LOT cheaper.
The Debut Carbon you posted is a solid modern table, I would completely avoid the U-Turns and Audio Technica LP120s (for the price of a new Audio Technica you could spend a little more and get a real Technics SL-1200).

I live in France, I do have old hardware my father used for his setup too, a reciever (dual CV 1080) and Kef 015 speakers. They both need a little repair, so I don't know if it's worth it

The Debut Carbon looked good, it's the first I looked at when I begun searching for a turntable. But this brand is quite representative of how confusing searching a good turntable is; the debut line has 5 different version, and costs the same as the essential line, wich has 4 different version. All this material is quite expensive, so I'm quite scared of taking the wrong decision
Audio Technica LP-120
Pro-Ject Debut Carbon
there are a lot of guides out there on this already.

You can't go too wrong, I think.

I did read a lot of those guides, but they have been around for a while now, maybe things have changed and some better models might have come out.

turntables haven't changed much in the last 30 years buddy.

Neither did a lot of product but it doesn't mean the market hasn't changed. You still have a good point and I think we need feels and "music waifu" threads instead
But yeah my dude, pick whatever pro-ject you want, find a pre amp that works for your budget, definitely get one of those carbon fiber brushes and maybe one of those 360° levels and a cork mat. You'll be golden.

I think you're right, in the end what I have seen is a lot of personal preferences. Thanks man, making a choice seems way less terrible now.

It wasn't sarcastic by the way, it's nice to see opinions like this regarding hardware.
