As someone who writes music, it's way easier to write a song with a "pop" structure than to do what Mr. Bungle does. It's easier to make it sound like a coherent track, as you're not trying to write many parts, and you're not trying to form structure from so many sections that flows nicely. The structure's pretty much laid down for you in a "pop" song, which makes it a lot easier to write with
