Like half of all Punk bands were Link Wray tribute bands. That guy was well ahead of the curve.
The Misfits also owed their career to the Damned, pretty much, down to the baritone vocals and horror shtick.

the misfits were a straight up english punk ripoff at the beginning. no record label wanted to release static age, so they had to modify their image and sound to get noticed
