This is probably a stupid question but is being able to play Scott Joplin's Maple Leaf Rag after a year and a few months of piano lesson's impressive? Idk I feel like my piano teacher praises me a bit too much and I'm starting to doubt it. Opinions?
It depends. How well can you play it? Can you play it by memory or do you need sheet music? How much practice went into learning the song? Ragtime piano is one of the easier piano styles, or at least that's what I've found.

It's okay but not that intricate. I'd say it's fairly impressive. Also is it from memory?

I always learn everything by memory. And I guess I can say that I can play it fairly well at normal tempo. And 2 weeks ish of practice. It could have been shorter but I was lazy

Yes it's from memory
Shieeet, my brass band just played this recently for a concert, nice work.

If you've only been playing for a little over a year and you learnt it in two weeks from memory, that's pretty good. It's not prodigy level, but it's a good sign and it means you're evolving as a musician, which is more important than just being impressive. To summarize, you should be happy.

I am happy with it. Thanks, c:

Good work.
Yeah you're doing well OP! I feel like I should get some lessons, really bottlenecked right now

how fast can you play it? the original is about 100 which is pretty fast.
